Susan Yates
Principal and Creative Director
For the past 14 years, Susan has worked extensively within the creative services industry as the owner of Hybrid Studios, LLC, a woman-owned business. Susan brings a unique combination of skills to her clients, including concept creation, print and identity design, advertising, exhibit design and social media marketing. At Hybrid, Susan has produced and directed successful marketing communication solutions for a variety of government, non-profit and corporate organizations such as Washington Gas, The National Park Trust, The Corps Network, The Appraisal Foundation, National Association of Broadcasters, Institute of Food Technologist, Elm Street Management, National Association of Women Business Owners and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Susan is also an exhibiting artist.
Richard Yates
Principal and Interactive Director
Over the past 14 years, Richard has worked on a wide range of projects for Hybrid Studios LLC, which he manages and operates with his wife Susan. Richard’s primary focus is on design and development, content management system integration, social media marketing and web design and development.
Prior to starting Hybrid Studios, Richard worked as a Senior Art Director for RTC Relationship Marketing in Washington, DC, working on national marketing campaigns including print, web and TV for AARP, Bristol-Myers Squibb, FedEx and International Papers. Richard also served as the lead Art Director for the Youth Market Line of Business for Capital One Financial Services.
Richard has created innovative interactive and print marketing solutions for Washington Gas, National Association of Broadcasters, Pfizer, National Park Trust, National Science Foundation, Rent-a-Wreck, Society for Human Resource Management, The Appraisal Foundation and the University of the District of Columbia. He has also been a speaker on Social Media Marketing at the Corps Networks annual Forum for several years, and has led hands-on Social Media Workshops at the event.
Michael G. McMahon
Senior Account Executive
Mike McMahon brings over 20 years of experience in marketing and advertising on both the agency and client sides of the business. He is principal of MGM Communications, founded in 1999, and has worked extensively with Hybrid Studios on scores of projects for Washington Gas. He was previously an Account Supervisor at Demaine, Vickers and Associates and he began his communications career at W.B. Doner in Baltimore, where he worked on such accounts as Edison Electric Institute (the Association of Investor Owned Electric Utilities), Klondike Ice Cream, Budget Rent-A-Car, Black & Decker and The Baltimore Sun.
George Nicholas
Brand Strategist
George Nicholas is a marketing and advertising consultant and longtime collaborator with Hybrid Studios on strategic positioning, branding and messaging. He held Executive Creative Director positions at three Washington area agencies in his 20+ year advertising career prior to starting his own consultancy. In the late ‘90s, he established the first online creative competency at the 40+ year-old WPP-owned direct marketing firm RTC, today known as RTC Relationship Marketing.
He has branded start-ups (SciQuest, Delaware Valley HMO) and re-branded decades old corporations (Realty World, Washington Gas, the Mortgage Bankers Association, Citizens Bank.). In a broader marketing role, clients have included FedEx. NASDAQ, Chevrolet, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and UnitedHealth Group.
Specific site content and positioning experience includes work for AARP, Abbot Pharmaceuticals and SoftwareAG.
Chris Elliff
Senior Software Developer
Chris has extensive experience in requirements development and analysis, software system design, coding, testing, deployment and O&M phases of application development.
Notably, as the Java developer for Northrop Grumman’s Digital Audio Video Enterprise (DAVE) system, he was responsible for the development and maintenance of a complex, 30+COTS product digital asset storage application integrated with custom code and multiple web services.
